Roman Catholic Beliefs…The Bible
Roman Catholic Beliefs …… The Bible
The bible is the most important book ever written, and that would be true even if it weren’t the most read, best selling book ever! The Bible was actually written over a period spanning 40 generations and 1500 years. (1400 BC to Approx. 100 AD) I guess that would mean that it is the book that took the longest to write? You would think that they would lose the whole point of the story.
The Bible was actually written by more than 40 authors all of whom had different professions, none of which was that of writer. These writers wrote the Bible in the wilderness, prison, palaces, the suburbs, and the cities, during war and peace. They wrote the Bible on three different continents and in three different languages. They accomplished that and kept the same theme throughout the entire 66 books of the Bible. That theme is Jesus Christ! And you know what? They did it without the Internet, computers or the printing press.
The Bible has been attacked by everyone, even those who claim to be Bible believing Christians. The Catholic Church banned it and burned it and the people who tried to make the Bible available to the common people. Communists burned the Bible and non-Christians and the Catholic Church , which I personally don’t believe to be a Christian church, distort the interpretation the Bible.
The Bible is all we need to live our lives on earth successfully, that is to the glory of God. Any questions or concerns that we have as individuals, as a Church, a nation or a world are answered in the Bible. It’s the Manufacturer’s Handbook. If you were setting up a complicated piece of electronic equipment would you throw away the instructions and do it on your own? Well…yea… if you’re a man you maybe would! At best you wouldn’t look at it until you were completely frustrated.
That’s what most of us do with our lives. We ignore the help that God has given us and do it on our own. That’s mans EGO getting in our way! (women too) We think we have to do it or pay for it. You can’t get something for nothing. Mans ego is the reason that the Gospel is a stumbling block.
God gave us the free gift of salvation because He loves us. You give your children free gifts because you love them, and they are happy and excited to accept them. In fact you would be upset if they tried to pay you in some way for those gifts. That’s the way God wants us to accept His gifts to us with excitement and joy. The Bible tells us that in Luke 18:17 “ Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.”
The Bible is full of information to make our life on earth easier and more understandable. God gave us the Bible as another free gift along with salvation. He wants us to use both of them, but I must warn you that you will not always like what you find in the Bible. It has a tendency to convict us of our sins when we read it. There again is man’s EGO lifting it’s head. We don’t like being told we are doing wrong even when we are! Hebrews 4:12 tells us “ For the word of God is living and active and sharper than a two edge sword and piercing as far as the division of the soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart”.
As many reading this are from the Roman Catholic Belief system , I want you to know that you can read and understand the Bible on your own. The Holy Spirit will help you if you ask him. When you sit down to read your Bible ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand what you are reading and He will. Sorry, this is another shot to your EGO, but that’s the way it is with God…..it’s all for free!
One last thing. When reading the Bible or listening to someone teaching about Scripture, myself included, always test what we hear or read or think with Scripture. I will end with these words: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ” All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching , for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
God Bless You
